Real E&P Value
USLL offers two low-cost, safe and environmentally friendly E&P waste management processes:
Low-pressure injection into fully permitted salt caverns
Land treatment or filling that removes soluble salts and degrades oil fraction
- Process water, less oil, is securely injected into saltwater wells.
- Waste solids are rendered “reusable” for the support of vegetation, recycling (road base, levee fill, etc.) and land remediation.
- U.S. Argonne National Laboratory considers the process a proven form of both treatment and disposal.
- Monitored by frequent independent lab testing followed by regulator approval for each treatment cell upon review of test data.

Frequent independent tests confirm water and soil are not adversely impacted. |

- Often more cost effective than onsite disposal. Operators avoid the liability costs of groundwater contamination from improper burial of contaminated wastes.
- Eliminates the potential environmental problems associated with high-pressure pumping of waste slurry by avoiding the potential for leakage to the ground surface or the seafloor, or contamination of the water table if injection wells are improperly cemented or fractures create unexpected contamination.
- No waste is sent to third-party commercial industrial or municipal landfills, nor is it commingled with third-party wastes.
